A warm welcome from all of us at Heritage Wood.

Summer has arrived and, as always, the wood is looking beautiful. Over the past few months we have been busy working to enhance Heritage Wood, ensuring it remains a haven and special place for families to visit for many years to come.

From exciting new facilities to important conservation work, here's what's been happening...

Together @ Heritage Wood

Building work has officially started for our brand new café Together @ Heritage Wood.

This wonderful new space is being designed as somewhere people can relax, meet friends, enjoy refreshments and spend time surrounded by nature.

Whether you are visiting a loved one's tree, enjoying a peaceful woodland walk or simply looking for somewhere welcoming to stop and eat, Together @ Heritage Wood will become a place where everyone feels welcome, at home and well fed!

We are incredibly excited to see the building take shape over the coming months and will keep you updated as progress continues

The Honesty Shop

Open from 10am - 5pm(ish) Wednesday to Sunday, plus bank holidays.

On warm summer days you will find refreshing ice creams and cold drinks, while on cooler days there's nothing better than warming up with a hot drink.

Simply choose your refreshments, and use the honesty payment system provided. Every purchase helps us keep this much-loved facility available for everyone to enjoy.

Looking after the wood

With increasingly unpredictable weather and heavier rainfall becoming more common, we have recently completed significant drainage improvements across parts of the wood.
These new drainage channels help manage excess water naturally, protecting pathways, improving access throughout the year and helping safeguard the health of the woodland for future generations.

The jungle bust!

If you have visited recently, you may have noticed that older parts of the wood have had what we affectionately call our annual 'Jungle Bust!'

During spring and early summer, we allow the grasses and wildflowers to grow naturally, providing an important habitat for insects, wildlife and pollinators. Once the flowering and seeding season has finished, our team carefully mow selected areas, making paths and open spaces more accessible while still preserving the natural beauty and biodiversity that make Heritage Wood so special.
It is all part of the balance between encouraging nature to thrive whilst ensuring everyone can continue to enjoy peaceful walks through the wood and of course good access for you when visiting your tree.

Summer in the wood

Summer is a wonderful time to visit Heritage Wood. The trees are in full leaf, wildlife is thriving and every visit offers something different. If you've not visited for a while, now is the perfect time to enjoy a walk.

The magic returns this winter...

Planning is already well underway for this year's Heritage Wood Illuminated Walk, and we can not wait to welcome everyone back for another magical illuminated event.

This year's walk will run for four weekends, beginning on Friday 27th November and continuing through to Sunday 20th December.

Tickets will go on sale from 1st September, so keep an eye on our website and social media for further details. As always, early booking is recommended.
